International Education Internship

Brown University's International Education Internship is full-time, paid internship that enables one recent college graduate to spend a year working as a member of the Choices Program. Choices develops teaching resources on historical and current international issues and offers professional development for classroom teachers at the secondary level. Through this work, Choices seeks to empower young people with the skills, knowledge, and participatory habits to be engaged citizens who are capable of addressing international issues through thoughtful public discourse and informed decision making. The intern works in the Choices Program office in Providence, RI.

Timeframe & Salary

The International Education Internship is a one-year appointment. The internship runs summer to summer. Salary ($2,000/mo) and benefits are provided.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have the following qualifications.

  • A demonstrated interest in international issues
  • An intention to enter the secondary education field
  • Strong communication, organization, research, and writing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Creativity, energy, patience, and reliability
  • Professional, energetic, and polished demeanor
  • Bachelors degree required

  • Personal Statement (three pages maximum)
    Please address not only where you have been but what you see in the future. Why are you interested in this internship? What do you expect to bring to the internship? What do you expect to take from it?
  • Resume & College Transcript
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
    We recommend that you include one reference from someone who knows your academic work, one from someone who knows your extracurricular interests, and one from someone who knows something about your motivations. Most importantly, please choose three people who together will give us the best picture of who you are and why you are a good fit for this internship. Reference letters can be submitted separately to the address below.
