Introductory Workshops

Engaging Students in International Issues: The Choices Approach

Led by local Teaching Fellows, introductory workshops are designed to introduce teachers to Choices curriculum units and approach. The program fee generally includes lunch and two Choices units explored during the day.

Our workshops are participatory, so come ready to be engaged and inspired!

Cost: Most workshops are $145 per person. Price includes two units ($78 value), lunch, and a certificate of completion. A limited number of scholarships are available for pre-service teachers. Contact Mimi Stephens for details.

Who Should Attend: History, geography, government, civics and other social studies educators are the main audience for these workshops.   Materials are appropriate for grades 7-12. Humanities teachers often use our materials and are encouraged to attend.  We welcome teamed ELA and social studies teachers to attend together.

Tabor Academy

Engaging Students in Inquiry and Discussion on International Issues

Join the Choices Program and teacher facilitators from Tabor Academy for two days of interactive presentations, discussions and working sessions on the Choices Program’s materials and approach for teaching about contested international issues. Bring your planning rubric along and develop strategies to implement the Choices Program in your classroom!

Price: $250 per person. Includes three Choices curriculum units, all conference materials, and meals. Housing on Tabor campus is available for $40/night. For multiple registrations from the same school, contact Mimi Stephens for a quote. The registration fee is non-refundable, but you may send someone else from your school if you are unable to attend.
