Racial Slavery in the Americas: Resistance, Freedom, and Legacies
Participants will:
EXPLORE the new Choices Program unit Racial Slavery in the Americas: Resistance, Freedom, and Legacies and engage in lessons and activities from the curriculum. The curriculum will support both students’ and teachers’ inquiry into a global history of slavery and its legacies;
LEARN from a content presentation related to a theme found in the unit;
HEAR about the mission and work of the Center for the Slavery and Justice at Brown University.
Co-sponsored by the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice (CSSJ) at Brown University.
All participants receive a one-year Digital Editions license for the Choices unit, Racial Slavery in the Americas: Resistance, Freedom, and Legacies.
A four-hour certificate of attendance will be provided, which reflects one hour of reading and reflecting that is expected to be completed by all participants before the workshop.
Free, thanks to generous funding from CSSJ.
Registration: You must register with a school email. If you register and do not attend, we will bill your school a $50 cancellation fee.
