Westward Expansion: A New History

7:00 pm — 8:15 pm
Webinar
DETAILS

How does perspective affect the “story” of U.S. westward expansion? The Choices Program’s Westward Expansion unit (revision forthcoming in Spring 2021) includes ten innovative lessons, each of which sharpens a different skill. Throughout the unit, students consider multiple perspectives on interactions between diverse Indigenous groups, as well as between Indigenous groups and U.S. settlers.

We’ll experience a lesson or two from the unit and we’ll also review other Choices Program curricular materials for bringing Indigenous voices into the classroom, including lessons from our A New Nation unit and The American Revolution unit.

NOTE: This webinar will take place at 7 pm EDT.
