Students examine the causes and effects of global warming and delve into questions of who is most responsible for and vulnerable to the changing climate. Students also grapple with how to respond to climate change in ways that are both effective and fair.

Join the Choices Program at Geofest! During this hands-on workshop participants will experience lessons and a role play activity from the Choices Climate Change and Questions of Justice unit (provided). Activities are designed to:
BUILD students’ critical thinking and analysis skills;
SUPPORT students in articulating their own perspectives;
EMPOWER students to make the changes they want regarding climate change.
The workshop will be facilitated by Melinda Gale, who is a Portland Public Schools teacher and a Choices Program Teaching Fellow.
Co-sponsored by the Center for Geography Education in Oregon.All participants receive a print format AND a one-year license for our Digital Editions format of the Choices Climate Change and Questions of Justice curriculum unit, lunch, access to all afternoon Geofest sessions, and PDUs.

This interactive workshop is appropriate for middle and high school history, social studies, and humanities teachers, including AP and IB educators.
