Students explore the evolution of the international community’s response to genocide and examine how the U.S. has responded to multiple cases of genocide.
Teaching Contested Histories and Current Issues
This is a two-day immersive introduction to Choices award-winning curriculum units. We’ll explore each part of a curriculum unit – student readings, multiple lesson plans, and short videos – and discuss ways to implement them in various classroom settings. Highlighted units include:

- Confronting Genocide: Never Again? – World History and Current Issues
- The American Revolution: Experiences of Rebellion – U.S. History
- The Russian Revolution – World History
- History, Revolution, and Reform: New Directions for Cuba – World History and Current Issues
- The Iranian Revolution – World History
- The Haitian Revolution – World History

This program is geared to high school teachers of history and other social studies courses, including AP and IB. Middle school and college level educators also find our materials and approach valuable and are welcome to attend.
